We had a busy week last week filled with critical votes on relief legislation in DC and virtual meetings and discussions with stakeholders in the district on how we can continue fighting for families. Here’s what you might have missed.

Participated in Rules Committee Hearing on H.Res 925 — Establishing a Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis as a select investigative subcommittee of the Committee on Oversight and Reform.

Congress has approved billions of dollars in COVID-19 aid for small businesses and families. People want to know where that money is going and so do I.

Congress must ensure that the taxpayer dollars we’ve allocated to respond to this crisis are well spent: that means saving lives, rooting out fraud & fighting for all small businesses.

Voted In Support of Latest Coronavirus Relief Package

On Thursday, House Democrats passed another bipartisan relief package to provide much needed support to our small businesses, hospitals and nursing homes, and to improve testing.

The bipartisan agreement will provide an additional:

  • $310 billion for small businesses
  • $75 billion for our frontline health care professionals
  • $25 billion for #COVID19 testing

This is a step in the right direction but we have so much more to do. I will not stop fighting for the families, workers, hospitals, and small businesses of our district.

Hosted a Facebook live COVID-19 discussion with the Fab Four

I’m always grateful for the opportunity to catch up with Congresswomen Madeleine Dean, Susan Wild, and Chrissy Houlahan, whose advice and friendship are an invaluable resource, especially as we fight for the families of Pennsylvania, together. We shared stories about how our constituents are inspiring us, talked about the adjustment to working from home, and discussed our goals for upcoming relief legislation.

Welcomed the National Guard as they delivered meals to keep our community fed

On Tuesday, the National Guard delivered nearly 30,000 ready to eat meals to Drexel Hill Middle School that will be dispersed to local food pantries, senior centers, and homeless shelters. I had the opportunity to greet them as they arrived to say thank you, alongside County Councilwoman Monica Taylor, Rep. Zabel, and Tim Boyce, and those leading the effort on the ground while we practice social distancing. https://www.facebook.com/2317303261926393/posts/2774541846202530/

Hosted a “Coffee with Your Congresswoman” live on Facebook

One of my favorite events that our office regularly hosts is Coffee with your Congresswoman, where I get to meet with constituents at diners, senior centers, and rec centers and discuss the issues most important to them. This week, we took this event online where I answered your questions from our mailbox.

Hosted Virtual Environmental Roundtable with Local Organizations

On Sunday, I joined Moms Clean Air Force, Citizens Climate Lobby, Conservation Voters of Pennsylvania, Penn Environment, Clean Air Council, and The Public Interest Law Center for a roundtable discussion on keeping our air clean and protecting communities from environmental deregulation during COVID-19.
