WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-5) was unanimously selected by her colleagues to serve as Vice-Chair of the distinguished Committee on House Administration where she will help lead the committee in its evaluation of the January 6th attack and oversight efforts of federal elections.

The Committee, led by Chair Zoe Lofgren (CA-19), is responsible for four important areas of oversight in the House of Representatives, including election reform and campaign finance, the Capitol Police, the Library of Congress and other federal institutions, and managing the daily operations of the House.

“Our work protecting free and fair elections is critical as we face new challenges from both at home and abroad.” Congresswoman Scanlon said. “Election law and civics education have been the focus of my legal and volunteer work for almost 30 years, and that experience will guide my approach to this new role as we work to make our elections more accessible, safeguard our democracy, and deliver accountability to the American people.”

In the 117th Congress, Congresswoman Scanlon will continue to serve as a member of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Rules Committee where she will continue fighting for equity, inclusivity, and justice.
