I’m proud to announce that Dyvne Lee, a 10th grader at Strath Haven High School, as the winner of the 2021 Congressional Art Competition for Pennsylvania’s 5th District. Her piece, “There will always be beauty in Brown Eyes,” will be sent to Washington D.C. to hang in the Capitol for one year.

Art is a powerful platform for free expression and can be a moving source of hope or inspiration. Each year, I look forward to this opportunity to view our community through the eyes of my youngest constituents. I am once again overwhelmed by the creativity and honesty these incredible young artists pour into their work. I’m thrilled Dyvne’s stunning photograph will represent our community alongside hundreds of other pieces from around the country at the Capitol.

I want to thank the teachers who worked with us to spread the word about this opportunity to their students. I also want to extend a special thanks to our art competition judges Eric Thompson, Executive Director of Darlington Arts Center, and Nancy Markezin, Moderator of the Community Arts Center’s abstract studio workshop, for working with our office to select a winner.

I invite you to check out the many incredible submissions our office got below:
