Legislative Recap: What You Might Have Missed This Week
It was great to be back in session this week! Here’s an update on what we were up to…
Participated in House Judiciary Committee Hearing — Courts in Crisis: The State of Judicial Independence and Due Process in U.S. Immigration Courts
The Trump Administration has upended our immigration system at our border and in the courts. This hearing was an opportunity for us to take a critical look at how we protect due process and judicial independence in our immigration courts.
We cannot tolerate a system that leaves immigrants, migrants, and asylum seekers at risk. I will not stop fighting as we work together to improve our broken immigration system.

Spoke on the House Floor in Support of Families in PA-05 who are Experiencing Deep Economic Uncertainty
A report issued late last year highlighted that hardworking families in my district, especially those with children, are struggling with rising costs and stagnant wages.
At year end, a typical working family earning 70,000 dollars is likely to be over 2,000 dollars in debt after paying for childcare, housing, and healthcare. And that’s before they can start saving for college or retirement.
Forty-percent of the families in my district make less than that. For them, the American dream of providing a better life for their children slips further from their grasp every day.
Instead of corporate welfare, our economic policy should support working and middle class families by investing in childcare, healthcare, housing, workforce development and tax reform to create healthier and more prosperous communities for everyone.

Attended Bipartisan Meeting of Pennsylvania Healthcare Stakeholders Convened by Representative Dwight Evans
I had a great discussion with other members of the PA delegation about how we can improve our health care landscape, including a discussion on the impact of hospital closures in our region.
I look forward to working with Rep. Evans, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the rest of the PA delegation to improve health outcomes in our district and across the state.
