Today, during the marathon reading of the Mueller Report that Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon organized with over 25 members of Congress, she also introduced and passed an amendment to strengthen the Affordable Care Act.

This amendment would require greater accountability from the Department of Health and Human Services by requiring the Secretary to provide vital statistics on plan enrollment, outreach and advertising, and the overall performance within the Affordable Care Act. This information will allow Congress to perform better oversight on the attempts to weaken the Affordable Care Act.

“This administration has routinely withheld information from Congress when it comes to the most important issues facing the American people,” Congresswoman Scanlon said. “This includes healthcare, immigration, education, and the Russian hacking of our elections. Introducing legislation that fights to protect the rights of the American people, while conducting oversight, is what we are duty bound to do.”
