District Week Recap: What You Might Have Missed
It was great to be back in the district this past week! Here’s a bit more about our week…
Joined Members of The Phoenix in South Philly
This week, I had the opportunity to join members of The Phoenix at their South Philly location. The Phoenix is a free sober-active community designed to support people on their path to recovery through cycling, climbing, hiking, running, and CrossFit.
I learned about this program a few months ago when representatives from The Phoenix joined the Bipartisan Freshman Working Group on Addiction in DC. We discussed their innovative response to the opioid crisis through community based physical fitness. It was a pleasure to meet them again at their South Philly location and to experience this program for myself.
There is no one path to recovery. We must do all we can to eliminate stigma and support those fighting this disease.

Recognized for My Work to Protect the Land and Water Conservation Fund
It was an honor to be recognized by PennEnvironment at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge for my commitment to protecting the environment, refuges, watersheds, and our public spaces.
As a proud cosponsor of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act, I understand and appreciate the value that this program brings to local communities in our district and across the United States.
The last time I was at the John Heinz Wildlife Refuge, I was part of a group helping clean up the area and was great to see a few of my fellow volunteers again in the crowd.
Protecting the environment is a battle we must continue to fight every day and I’m committed to pushing back against the Trump Administration’s efforts to rollback protections.
